Word for the Rohingya People
by Jennifer Choi, February 2025
My children, I am your well of living water. I am the river of life. I am overflowing with healing and mercy to dress your wounds.
I myself while on earth have said, "Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." (Matt 8:20). I am the God of the wanderers, the nomads and the dispossessed. I am Father to the fatherless; Friend of the friendless. You see the world around you, the nations and peoples who received you (brought you in physically) but have not accepted you. The rejection you face reopens the wounds of persecution and massacre.
For 21 years (starting from 2016) you will find yourselves unable to settle for good in any land - whether in Bangladesh, Malaysia or back 'home' in Myanmar. Your population will remain fragmented until the generation that has experienced the latest atrocities has aged - and healed. Any moves to take up arms to seek revenge and retaliation, I will oppose. Does this mean that I am unjust? That I have not seen the suffering of the Rohyingyas? No - my angels have watched your sons and daughters cross the river into Bangladesh. I know that your yearning to 'go home' is great, as is your yearning for justice. But remember that I Myself patiently await the day of reckoning, the day of justice upon the whole earth. You are called to partner with my patience, my long-suffering.
Yet your years of waiting are not to be wasted. Opportunities to acquire new languages, new skills, new perspectives will be opened before you, if you seek direction from ME. Despite the unwillingness of host governments and their citizens, you will find yourselves with access to wells that can water you. You are to build new friendships, interact and integrate with peoples and communities around you - no longer living in isolation and confinement, as you were in Myanmar. For I need to break off the handcuffs of isolation from you - you are a people capable of great friendship, hospitality and openness. Fear has confined you for centuries, but in your scattered places I call you to abandon fear and move into freedom.
I am calling and mobilising My people and My churches to move towards you - with the spirit of adoption and servanthood. I am calling churches and ministries from Indonesia, Malaysia and even the Philippines to come to the Rohingya people with food, medicine (healing waters), education (new perspectives) and technology (new skills). I am calling them to bring My Word and presence to dwell amongst them. For the next two decades - invest friendship and generosity into the Rohyingya people. Nurture them into their calling to be a people of hospitality and rejuvenators full of life!"
