Word for Sri Lanka
by Jennifer Choi, February 2024
The Spirit of the Lord says to Sri Lanka:
“I am calling you to re-build your broken and warped foundations. The purpose for which you were created as a nation had been thwarted - for you were meant to be unique and distinct from your neighbouring nations (incl. India). Yet your colonisers brought in systems and foundations for governance, economy, society and even ethnic composition that were not established for you and the wellbeing of your nation, but for the benefit of their Empire. The spirits of slavery and inferiority entered into your nation, and the dignity and regal nature that I have designed you with were lost. The division and contest amongst people groups, social class, religions and political affiliations are symptoms of your orphanhood - as you grew up neither under the nurturing presence of mothers nor the strength and protection of fathers.
Yet I will say to you, Sri Lanka - you are not without parents for I, the Lord, am your father and mother. And my Spirit hovers over your land, your seas, and your airspace - where the spirit of death has stretched itself out and gained control - to break in like bolts of lightning, to strike the centres of life and resurrection across your territory. I am calling forth my servants whom I have anointed with the ability to worship and praise to gather my people, my churches, to worship festivals (or assemblies) that will release the sound of the turnaround into your atmosphere. I am calling forth my servants with spiritual authority over geographic areas (inland, hills and coastal areas) to bless and consecrate the land. I am calling forth my prophets to identify and confront the spirits controlling the waters/seas - that Lanka will not be cut off and suffocated any longer.
This is the time for my voice, my presence, my power and might to be released into the land, waters and the air - it is time for spiritual warfare to pivot Sri Lanka, to turn it away from certain death and destruction. The unprecendented openness towards the church by the once-hostile population will not last unless wars are won in the spiritual realms. The harvest of souls, baptisms, discipleship and the raising up of my army in Sri Lanka await - but now is the time to plough up the ground and rip out the bad foundations.”
